ASAP Submission Open for 2022 Season

Dear District and League Officials:

On December 1, submissions for the Little League® A Safety Awareness Program (ASAP) opened for the 2022 season.

Any local league or district wishing to submit its 2022 ASAP plan may do so now through the Little League Data Center. District Administrators should review the deadlines and requirements and make sure their leagues are preparing their Safety Plans for the upcoming season.

It is strongly suggested that any ASAP plan submitted for the 2022 season include a coronavirus mitigation plan. Adding a coronavirus safety section to your league's Safety Plan is not mandatory for ASAP approval but is strongly recommended. Any Safety Plan submitted without the inclusion of a coronavirus mitigation plan is eligible for approval by Little League, however the lack of such protocols could affect the opportunity to be recognized as a regional or national winner of the Best Safety Plan award. As your league assembles its Safety Plan, additional guidance for Safety Officers is available, at: LittleLeague.org/ResourceGuide.

Local leagues and districts must upload their 2022 ASAP Safety Plan; and access and update their Facility Survey (ASAP Requirement No. 8) through the Little League Data Center.

Dates of Note:

  • December 1, 2021: Leagues may begin to submit Safety Plans via the Little League Data Center.
  • April 1, 2022: Early Submission Deadline for District Incentive; plans must be received AND approved.
  • April 15, 2022: League Deadline (League Incentive/Best-Safety-Plan Award).

Please remember that you will be able to submit your ASAP Safety Plan before Requirement 14 (Registration Data) is completed, however, your ASAP Safety Plan will not be approved until the Registration Data requirement is completed. Note that Requirement 14 (Provide Registration Data) will automatically check your league's registration data on record before the ASAP Safety Plan is approved. Remember, for leagues using Sports Connect for their player and volunteer registration, that information will be automatically sent to Little League International, helping to fulfill Regulation IV(g) and ASAP Requirement 14.

ASAP Participation Incentive: If each of a district's local leagues have ASAP plans submitted and approved by Friday, April 1, 2022, the district will earn an ASAP participation incentive award. For a local league to receive its ASAP participation credit and be in consideration for the national awards program presented by Musco, its plan must be submitted by Friday, April 15, 2021. For the 2022 season, the district standard of 80-89% of its ASAP plans received/approved by April 1, 2021, will collect $300; and those districts reporting 90-100% participation will earn $600.

Submission Permission: Only League Presidents and League Safety Officers may submit an ASAP Safety Plan unless another officer has been given permission by the League President. Officers that do NOT have this permission will not see the ASAP submission link once logged into the Data Center. To request this permission, please contact your League President. League Presidents can add this permission by clicking edit next to any officers' name on the Manage/View Officers screen and checking the Manage ASAP box under permissions.

Safety Plan Review: If an ASAP Safety Plan is not accepted, the league will receive an email containing a description of the issues that prevented it from being approved. The ASAP Safety Plan can be amended and resubmitted online using the same submission process. Remember, to host any level of Little League International Tournament games (including District), the host site must have an ASAP Safety Plan approved for the current season.

To answer questions about the ASAP program, or creating a Safety Plan, please, contact Chris Taddeo via email, at: [email protected]; or by telephone, at: 570-326-1921, ext. 2255.

On behalf of millions of children and volunteers, thank you for your time and commitment in support of Little League's safety initiatives.
