Developing a Safety Plan
Developing a Safety Plan for your league doesn't have to be difficult.   It takes a little time and research, implementation and before you know it you have reduced injuries in your park and saved your league money!

The main components of your Safety Plan should include:

Facility Survey - check your park to be sure it is safe to play in
The best way to complete your facilitity survey is to download the Little League Facility Survey and then head out to the park to fill in the survey.  You can then enter the information online through the Little League Data Center so that it will be saved for years to come and will only need a yearly update.
Lighting Survey - have a qualified technician check lighting levels
Musco Lighting has offered to send a qualified lighting expert to your park to check your light levels at no charge! Contact Rob Staples:
Equipment Check - make sure your equipment is safe and not in need of replacement
Check helmets for cracks and missing padding, check catcher's gear, check bats for cracks/dents and correct size for the playing division.  Throw out damaged equipment.  Remember that Composite Bats are not legal unless they are on the Little League approved list.        Approved 2 1/4" bats          Approved 2 5/8" bats
Safety Manual for Managers and Coaches - give them a guideline to use in the case of injuries and emergencies
Download a sample Manual here.  Then add to it, change it up, make it your own!

Safety Manual for your Concession Workers - provide guidelines for safe food handling and storage
Fundamentals Training for your Managers and Coaches - make sure they have the proper tools to teach the players
Contact your local high school to see if they will teach your coaches
Safety Training for Managers, Coaches, Umpires, Concession Workers, etc. - be sure everyone knows how to handle emergencies
Contact your local fire department, paramedics, police department, hospital, doctors for first aid, CPR, AED training
