Developing a Safety Plan
Developing a Safety Plan for your league doesn't have to be difficult. It takes a little time and research, implementation and before you know it you have reduced injuries in your park and saved your league money!
The main components of your Safety Plan should include:
Facility Survey - check your park to be sure it is safe to play in
Lighting Survey - have a qualified technician check lighting levels
Equipment Check - make sure your equipment is safe and not in need of replacement
Safety Manual for Managers and Coaches - give them a guideline to use in the case of injuries and emergencies
Safety Manual for your Concession Workers - provide guidelines for safe food handling and storage
Fundamentals Training for your Managers and Coaches - make sure they have the proper tools to teach the players
Safety Training for Managers, Coaches, Umpires, Concession Workers, etc. - be sure everyone knows how to handle emergencies
Additional Resources:
Responsible Sports: newsletters, safety information + chance to win $2,500 for your league
Moms Team: newsletters, safety information
Positive Coaching Alliance: coach and parent online training; positive coaching techniques
Now, complete the ASAP Registration form - being sure you include all 13 components of the plan
